What's the film about?

There a girl called Beca and she wants to be a super cool DJ. Her dad makes her go to university first and insists that she needs to get a degree before she can jet off to make it in LA.

While at Barden Uni, much to her dismay, Beca is soon joining Acapella group, The Bellas and finds herself in the dog-eat-dog world of college singing troupes.

With Beca's help, the all-girl singing group try to turn their fortunes around and finally beat their male rivals. Oh and Beca has a weird crush/flirtationship with one of the guys which is a big no-no apparently...

Who's in it? Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-plasse

Handbag hearts:

This film is not Glee. Well it is but a moody, bitchy, ironic version the popular TV show that makes it perfect for the big screen.

Everything about this film feels like a guilty pleasure; the cheesy lines, the over the top gags, the customary relationship and even some of the song choices. But that's what makes it all so funny.

When you have a Rebel Wilson playing a character who happily calls herself Fat Amy so "twig bitches don't say it behind her back, it's not hard to see why this film has done so well despite the Glee comparisons.

Anna Kendrick is probably Twilight's biggest star as she's managed to forge a pretty good CV for herself that knocks both Robert Pattinson's and Kristen Stewart down a notch.

Complaints:

The love story is a bit too predictable. It feels like it was put in just because every film needs one and we would almost have prefered the film without that one side story.

It's not enough to stop the film from being enjoyable and at times the pair do have some pretty good banter in between it all.

Verdict:This film is silly and witty and we love it. The gags are ridiculous and the music is awesome. Give it a watch pitches, it's aca-mazing! 4/5

P.S. The commentary by John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks is the funniest double team we've seen in ages...

Pitch Perfect is out in cinemas now.
