Take a break! 1.2 million Brits won't use their holiday entitlement

With the end of 2012 looming closer, it's time to take those extra days off...

Office romance
We all know Christmas is a pretty hectic time of the year for most offices. If you're not preparing paperwork for the big Xmas break you're probably stressing about what to buy the boss for secret Santa. Stressful!

So how amazing would it be to take a few days off to get all that annoying life admin (shopping, post office, bank, wrapping etc) done and dusted?

Well, chances are you've probably got one or two spare days from your annual holiday allowance still knocking around.

This year 1.2 million Brits won't use what's left of their holiday pay, even though it's available to them. Overall, 6.2 million days of annual leave will be lost throughout the country and businesses will gain £500 million in 'free' work days as staff decide not to take their holiday entitlement.

Madness.

The data gathered by TravelSupermarket shows that, on average, we will all finish the year with five days of unused holiday because we don't want to let our employers and colleagues down during the festive season.

We agree with 28% of the workforce who say they are too stressed to take the time off, but what about an afternoon out of the office to get some shopping done. That sounds a bit more reasonable doesn't it.

Start thinking now ladies - there are only a few more days to take off before 2013 kicks in!

Will you be taking your remaining holiday before it's lost forever?
