A group of Aboriginal sisters have grown up singing and loving music. After bumping into a drunken Irish singer, the sisters suddenly have a manager who transforms them into the hottest soul group around.
When they get offered a chance to sing for the soldiers in Vietnam, they get a chance to not only change their lives but also help change the world view of Aboriginal women.
Who's in it? Chris O'Dowd, Jessica Mauboy, Miranda Tapsell, Shari Sebbens, Deborah Mailman
Who knew a soul girl band did some much to empower the Aboriginal people. We all know about the civil rights movement in America but it's safe to say no many people have a clue about the struggle down under.
But before you start thinking this film is all about racism, it is most definitely a lovable true story about a group of women who wouldn't let anything hold them back from their dreams.
Chris O'Dowd is absolutely amazing in this film it's worth watching just to hear the voice of the soul king he's been hiding from us all this time.
The script is a bit cheesy at times, but we can live with it. Some of the sub-plot aren't given enough attention but we wouldn't want the film to go one forever so we can understand why a few things have been rushed.
Verdict: This heart warming and hilarious film will definitely have you tapping along to the motown classics and laughing your head off at this amazing true story. Chris O'Dowd is simply amazing!
P.S. We totally love how cute their friendship is. We wish out best friends had been born on the same day as us!
