Move over J.K Rowling, Dan Brown and Steig Larsson because E.L. James is the new master of fiction.
Her erotic bondage novel Fifty Shades of Grey has sold a staggering 5.3million copies in print and ebook formats making it the biggest selling book in UK history!
Literature lovers around the country are having problem stomaching the news, especially considering the amount of criticism that has been directed at E.L's writing style.
In recent weeks, Fifty Shades has surpassed the Highway Code, all seven Harry Potter books, Steig Larsson's Millennium series and Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code in sales.
The BDSM themed novel centres around the relationship between student and virgin Anastasia Steele and her sadomasochistic boyfriend and multi-millionaire Christian Grey.
In a statement E.L. James said: "My main ambition when I signed the deal with Random House was to see my books in the shops. I simply had no idea they would be so successful and this is totally unexpected. The whole process has been both extraordinary and rewarding. I couldn't be more pleased with the sales and would like to thank everyone involved."
As Fifty Shades is part of a trilogy, the second and third books are also selling well. Combined UK sales for all three books are in excess of 12million copies.
The books are now being adapted by Hollywood movie producers and rumours of who will be playing the male and female leads are bouncing around the internet.
Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Mila Kunis, Ian Somerhalder, Chris Pine, Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill have all been linked to the project.
