But what is is all about and do we really need it?
WTF is feminist biology?
Janet Hyde, director of the University of Wisconsin's Centre for Research on Gender & Women explains to The Cut that feminist biology has two aims.
Firstly she says it "identifies gender bias in traditional biology and alerting students and scientists to possible gender bias."
Secondly, "constructing new theories and new research that does away with these biases and leads to a more balanced biology that takes women into account."
Hyde argues that much research has been carried out with a male gaze, and even down to studies that test male-only groups but have medical implications for women. This course wants to correct that.
Do we need it?
Well obviously the University of Wisconsin think so - but others aren't as convinced.
Christina Hoff Sommers, aka the 'factual feminist' argues, "we need good biologists not agenda driven politicised science."
