Beyoncé has written an essay calling for female empowerment and saying 'gender equality is a myth.'

Because of course she has.

The piece is for The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Pushes Back from the Brink, a study of how women are living and working across America, created by journalist Maria Shriver.

Beating the drum for women's rights alongside the likes of Hilary Clinton and Sheryl Sandberg - Beyoncé says equal pay and increased opportunity is key.

Beyonce's views on gender equality in a nutshell

  • Men are key to change. They too must demand equality.

  • Mothers must educate their children that equality should be a given.

  • Beyoncé says boys should be taught respect, and girls should be taught 'they can reach as high as humanly possible.'

  • 'Equal pay and equal respect' are the foundations to this - as currently women only earn 77% of what men earn in America.

  • Equality isn't a reality now, 'but we can get there if we work together.'

That's it, we couldn't love her more.

We can barely hold it together doing our job and brushing our hair occasionally - Beyoncé manages to have a hit album, film videos non stop, be a mother and write down her thoughts of feminism of an eve.

Note to self - do more.
