HOW TO SURVIVE CHRISTMAS WITH THE IN-LAWS
1. Shake-up Christmas
Chances are you've spent the last twenty plus years having Christmas with your family, doing the same things, having the same dinner, the same afternoon nap. There is nothing wrong with doing something a bit different for a change.
2. Spending Christmas with your chap
If you're spending Christmas with your fella's family...we're presuming he'll be there as well. But waking up together and getting Christmas sloshed will be a blast. It's all about the festive romance.
3. Your in-laws will make a huge effort
Unless they are massive douche bags obviously - but if they are normal, nice folks - they will be equally nervous about you coming round, and will make lots of effort making you feel super special.
4. You will value your family
If your brother is a royal pain in the butt and your mum has been driving you a bit bonkers recently - spending time apart from them over Christmas will make you miss your family and all those petty arguments will just become white noise.
Likewise, they'll miss you. Nothing wrong with that.
5. Unite you as a couple
Spending time with his family and then yours will help you two become the bridge between the two and set you up as your own unit. Unless either one of you gets into a fight with a drunken uncle - it should theoretically make you stronger as a couple.
