Should Ronnie Biggs have been granted parole on compassionate grounds?

Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs has been refused parole in his latest bid for freedom, despite having had a series of strokes and being confined to a hospital bed.
The 79-year-old escaped from prison shortly after being jailed for 30 years in 1963 for his part in the Great Train Robbery, a £2.5 million hold-up of a London to Glasgow train which saw a train guard beaten unconscious. Biggs fled to Brazil, but returned voluntarily to Britain in 2001.
The parole board has decided that despite having recently broken a hip, and being unable to walk or talk, Biggs has not repented his crimes or taken a reoffending course and therefore cannot be released.
What do you think? Should Ronnie Biggs have been released from prison on compassionate grounds?
