Bob Martin Spot On flea treatment allegedly 'poisoning' cats

I have just visited a review website as I was thinking of buying this product but there are over 20 reviews many alleging that this product had severe side effects, some pets actually dying horrifically after its use. Has anyone had any first hand experience of this? If proven, surely they wouldnt be allowed to continue manufacturing it?
Depends if they have reported it to the correct people. If in doubt, use Frontline instead.
Hmmm I've read into this a bit more and I'm disgusted. There are a ton of people who have had problem with this, vets recommend you do NOT use this product and yet it is still on sale? WTF?

I seem to remember reading something about that but I'm sure it was people who hadn't used the right one for their animal or something, like interchanging treatments for cats/dogs? I could be wrong - might do a search and remind myself. Personally I only ever use Frontline as its the only thing that really seems to work. H x
I'm pretty sure I've posted on here before about this. In a previous job I used to deal with claims for Bob Martin and some of the letters I received were very upsetting - cats and dogs foaming at the mouth, convulsing etc. and eventually dying. We also got instructed to investigate a claim for them last year - it was for the flea spray not the spot on) but I can't remember if it was a dog or cat that was affected (my colleague investigated it). We still have the flea spray at work which I noticed today, oddly enough. I would never use their stuff on my cats. In fact last week in the supermarket I saw a woman looking at it and I told her not to buy it - I think she might have thought I was a bit batty though.

They do both a cat and dog spot on. But the reviews clearly state that the correct one for the animal was used, and in some cases that they had been used previously with no ill effects.

God how awful. I would be devastated...
I would never ever use supermarket brand stuff on my animals. I only use the spot-ons and wormers that I get in my vets. So stronghold, frontline, advocate, drontal and parazole. I stay away from Milbemax too as we've had a couple of dogs that had a reaction to it and one dead pup which we put down to it too.
english bull terrier n bob martins spot on im very worried about my ebt, we gave him 1 pipett of bob martins sopt on, on his neck, that was about 10.30pm 21/09/08, when we got up thismorning hes was really lifeless, panting like mad, really shaking bad, ears down tail down,heart racing, so we done a search on internet about it n bob martins can n has killed pets, so we phoned the vet straight away (pdsa) was told to get him in asap so we did, they see how ill he was n put him on a drip, then told us to phone n see how hes getting on, we did that n had to pick him up at 5pm with some medication n not much change still shaking ect, im contact with somone who can & is getting somthing done about this, we just need everyone who has had problems with bob martins, to email me or message me on here just a quick discription & your email address, please help everyone to stop this happening to others loved pets [EMAIL="my_ebay_88@hotmail.com"]my_ebay_88@hotmail.com ty shae
I'm so sorry this happened to shae. I haven't had any personal experience, but other people might have. I'm glad something is going to be done about this product.
