Its not like your dog is a puppy at 6 years, she/he should be out of the crying at night. Does the dog have a cuddly or fav toy at night and a comfy bed. My dog has never slept in a bed, when we moved, he always settled on the first landing, and we just left him there, he still access to water, which was in the kitchen, lounge and dinning room doors were closed at night. Have you tried to ignore (no fun if you have to get up for work) I am certain about one thing i have never had pets in my bedroom at night or daytime, he tried to get away with it, when he did try to come in bedroom, i just said OUT! every time, he soon got the message.
GOOD LUCK, I am sure someone on here will give you some real good advice.
