How likely is it cats come back?

My baby has gone missing and its been 3 weeks now. He's 11 and when i rang around vets in my area, one vet told me basically to forget about him because of his age he probably went away to die

I know its a possibility but he was eating as normal, doing everything the same as he normally would. Prior to him going for these 3 weeks he went out and didnt come back for 2 days and came wandering in meowing for food. Then 2 days later he was gone again

I tried to keep him in but hes always loved being outdoors and i felt so cruel keeping him in and i only lasted 1 day of keeping him in, and when he was out then he didnt leave the garden once.

I've asked pretty much my whole street and neighbouring streets to check sheds/garages etc and put up a few posters but nothing.

Its horrible not knowing whats happened or where he is.

Any tips on what else i could do?

I would keep on at yoru neighbouirs and check teh garages...my dad's cat went missing for 15days and was in a neighbours garage, she is absolutely fine now. same thing happened to my friend's cat but thankfully only for a couple of days.

I know it must be so distressing not knowing where he is, keep trying RSPCA and Cats Protection too...

Hi Dani,

Hope you have had him home by now. My friends cat lived til 17 and he was an outdoors boy always in fights and a bit of a boy! He used to dissapear for days at a time spesh in his later years so don't give up hope.

Personally I would like to have a word with that vet!!!! How heartless!

Keep checking like Coops said and please don't feel bad about letting him out again.

Fingers crossed for you. I hope you see him soon if you haven't by now.
