Does anybody have an idea how to stop a dog from smelling? I konw you are going to say: bath him! But only a few days afterwards, he starts smelling again! Any advice?

Hi, If its bad then a trip to the vet could be in order. Doggie could have blocked anal galnds (nice eh?). Its definately not his teeth is it? The way you describe it, it sounds like is a 'general' doggy smell. What breed? Some breeds like labs and spaniels have a naturally extra oily coat so can smell more 'doggy'. Plus they are prone to throwing themselves in stinky ponds which can't help. One thing that I think can really help once any medical probs have been ruled out is diet. I think a lot of the commercial dog food, even the 'posh' ones have a lot of chemicals which I think makes their skin more smelly. I can recommend Burns food food as it is really pure. Its not available everywhere but if you check out the website they'll be info about this smelly dog issue and they may be able to recommend something that you can get in your area. Good luck with the pongy pooch.

I would get him checked over by the vet just to be safe--dogs can often smell more/smell different when they're poorly so it could signify a problem. booboo's right about diet too--I would have a look at this. Our old lab's skin problems cleared up totally when she went on a natural (barf) diet. Personally, I've always avoided washing dogs if at all possible--just wiping down if they've rolled. I just think it can upset the skin's balance, things like sebum production, and so can potentially perpetuate problems.

I have the same problem. My shihtzu-poodle smells like crazy after two or three days from bathing. You should try dog deodorants or perfumes, I'm sure you can find them in department stores. It solved my problem. You spray it to your dog an hour after the bath. It's magical.
