Hi I was wondering if anyone knew somewhere that sells nice art/pictures/canvasses, either online or somewhere in London. I am looking for something to brighten up a very bare wall in our kitchen/dining room. Not looking to spend more than 200. Thanks

This website is quite good as you can search by type of art and price - www.londonart.co.uk www.londonart.co.uk Also there used to be the Affordable Art Fair in London but I can't find details for one this year and their website doesn't seem to work.

Personally I love Ebay. I am quite into digital art right now - but they have so many pictures you'll be spoilt for choice. (My current favourite seller on Ebay is michaleigh-art). i also once bought some from my local college - a nude woman charcoal drawn onto a bed sheet. My mum washed it a week later.

I've used www.easyart.com www.easyart.com before. They do framing as well - you can choose the wood and see how it'll look and everything. They've got so much choice it's hard to know where to start. Also, they have sales pretty often. The shops around the outside of Spitalfields Market are quite good for art as well if you want to buy something IRL rather than online.

Etsy.com has loads of independant work on, well worth a look! You can search by colour or theme, or just browse.

Another great site is www.minigallery.co.uk www.minigallery.co.uk It features loads of artists, covering photography, painting, sculpture etc... Similar to the site Bibbitybob mentions, you can search with various criteria - medium, colour, artist, style. Each piece is a one off, although if you like something that has already been sold you can commission the artist to do you another in a similar style. I have two pieces from the site, from two different artists and I am very happy with them.

I've bought from here before: www.kandibox.co.uk http://www.kandibox.co.uk , not too pricey and lots of choice (I love the artists ones eg http://www.kandibox.co.uk/pages/artists/vincentfracer.htm but can't afford them at the moment so have gone for the 50 ones!)

http://shop.deviantart.com There is a LOT of shite in there, but it's worth wading for the good bits.

I bought OH a beautiful piece off a guy on our local market - huge, stunning and 130. Keep your eyes and ears open for people like that who sell their own stuff rather than going through a gallery - I think most go on reputation
