Hi everyone, am new to these forums, am amazed and so happy that there is this kind of thing tho cos am struggling a bit!! I've been on the combined pill since last September (was on it for 12 years then had a break and went back on it and its been hell!). I'm fine for the pill free break and the week after, then mid cycle i turn into a different person - i'm irritable, angry, my mood swings are horrendous, i'm weepy, the last straw was last friday when i was having thoughts of being dead!! scared the hell out of me and went to drs, she said i'd be better with a triphasic pill and put me on Trinordiol - i tried to get this but its been discontinued so she's now prescribed me Logynon which is meant to be exactly the same. Does anyone know if it is the same or have u been on either of these? I'm expecting this to be a miracle pill cos if this still puts me on an emotional rollercoaster i'll have to resort to condoms and irregular periods!! Also, do u have to have a 7day break when changing pills or do u start your new pill packet immediately after your old one without the 7day break? Confused?! Any info much appreciated xx

Hi:wave: Welcome to Handbag! I'm not sure of the answer to your querey so I'm going to bump this up in case another bagger has any input on this. You could also ring your doctors or chemist. The doctor or pharmacist at the chemist would be able to tell you.

Hi! Logynon is very similar to Trinordiol; both have pills that you take in order for 21 days. Everyone reacts to different pills differently. Hopefully you'll find that Logynon works for you in exactly the same way as Trinordiol, but it might take a month or two to settle down when you change over. If you are changing pill then it's best to start the new pill straight after the old one, rather than have a 7 day break. Hope that helps a little. Your GP or Chemist will be able to advise as well

Thanks guys for the responses. I had an awful night last night, started with the raging 'red belly' anger because of a traffic jam?! then what was meant to be a nice quite night at the pub with boyf ended up me being snappy and turning everything he said into a 1 way convo from me thinking he was having a go at me, which ended up with me leaving pub crying and sleeping in spare room! what is wrong with my hormones!? anyway i went to drop in clinic this morning to explain and see if there was any other answers and she's given me trinovum (another triphasic pill) to start immediately! Does anyone have any info on Trinovum? I still have the Logynon from my Dr to replace the discontinued Trinordiol but am in two minds now which to try!! Logynon or Trinovum so any answers welcome as to side effects of either, good or bad etc. Thanks again x

Click here for Trinovum information http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100002653.html at NetDoctor Click here for Logynon info http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001533.html at NetDoctor Don't read too much into the side effects as most people don't get any. Those that do only get one or two quite mildly.

I have just been given the logynon today to try as my previous pill yasmin wasn't suiting me. I'm wondering though, can you miss a period like you can with the Yasmin and Microgynon; by taking the packs back to back without a break? Although I know this isn't wise to do all the time it was quite handy with some situations like holidays, exams, etc.
