[I became partly deaf at thirty seven due to a bout of flu .I have trained searched and actively sought work sent off over a hundred c v s and tried everything .At last people began to realise at interview I was ok .,and I now have a job. Perhaps you should try to get the person to an interview that seems to do the trick. Oh and apply to the relevant areas of work that the person is capable of right now ,not what they used to do.Have you tried training some more, widen your areas. Good Luck.QUOTE]I am experiencing problems finding an ex employee employment. I have registered him with every organisation possible in the search for employment and yet still we have got no where. One organisation encouraged him to retrain at The St Loye's Foundation, 80 miles from home with the promise of work experience or a job after completing the course. Sadly, no such luck. The disability advisor has encoured me to job search on his behalf which I have been doing so now for 10 months, taking advantage of the guaranteed interview scheme. I prepare detailed reports of the job search, progress and any developments for the Advisor. We are struggling to find a disability friendly employer! I had hoped that the specialist bodies would have been able to assist but each time I mention leads I am advised there are none. I can now say after 10 months I have exhausted every avenue: Job Centre Plus three times a day, local papers weekly, registered with employment agencies, company web sites careers sections, written 160 speculative letters looking for work and work experience placements under the new deal scheme, telephone calls. In fact I dread opening the letters for the negative replies. This gentleman worked for me for 10 years before I retired and he is local, trustworthy and dependable. As a disability friendly employer myself I found anyone with a disability more reliable and had less sick leave that able bodied staff! I would appreciate anyones comments, ideas or inspiration. Thank you.
