Thoughts on this one please!
We've had a bit of a re-structure at work and the good news is I now have a perm role but it also means I'm reporting into a new manager, who is a consultant filling in on an interim basis - prob next 3 months.

He has this habit of glancing at my chest region while we're talking which makes me feel really uncomfortable. He does it with others as well and a few of us talked about it and mentioned it to HR, who said they'd monitor it. Well, the HR director said she 'observed' him in meetings and yes his eyes do drop down but she thinks it's involuntary as she reckons he does it with men too. I'm not convinced so we've agreed to watch out for it.

What do you reckon- do you get this at work as well? I mean, I can handle that kind of thing in the pub or social situation but I've never had to work with anyone before who makes it so obvious.

It might be that he doesn't know he's doing it. When I first started at my place, my boss would start off looking eye to eye but then she'd end up looking at my neck which I thought was really odd. Now we know each other better she doesn't seem to do it so I just assumed it was a bit of a nervous thing.

Still, if it was a guy staring at my boobs Id feel pretty uncomfotable!

oo-er this IS a difficult one, personally I would probably just wave my hands in front of my face and say" hey, hey, hello, face is here" but that may not be the best way, as you know Ange here in Germany people are a lot more open & direct, TBH think you'll have to play it by ear and see what your colleagues think after a short while. Hope it works out for you, must be bloody awkward.

years ago when i was in secondary school, we had a male teacher who used to do this when he spoke to someone one-on-one, even the guys. he wasnt a pervy man in any way at all, and was married, had kids, etc. we used to find it hilarious of course, but looking back it was obvious it was a nervous thing.

some people do have a real thing about making eye contact. for some people its not a big deal at all, but some people just cant hold it.. i know a few people like this. in a professional environment it can be a really tough thing, and can be interpreted as reaaaly inappropriate! i.e teacher, pupil..

i dont really have any advice - obviously you know your comfort zone, and if youre not comfortable with it, something has to be done, even if its making him aware of it.. (although that might make him all the more nervous and conscious about it!)

I work with 10 men, all they do is talk to your boobs. Then when you're at lunch they will be talking to you, next thing their heads will snap round (exorcist style) to check out the women walking around

Ha, bet none of them would dare do it on his own tho' without been egged on by giggling little pals, my annoyance barometer would fly straight to ballistic with that !!! grrr. A few years ago my ex punched 4 such muppets flat in a nightclub cos they did similar to me, didn't know who I was most annoyed with him or them

Oooh, I love this thread and have worked with several "Titwatchers" in my time. The funny thing is, the one in my current office is an openly gay man and a rather lovely flamboyant one at that! Although I know that some gay men do have a fascination with woman's breasts, I find it amusing but only because it doesnt make me uncomfortable.

However, I have also had titwatchers that made me feel slightly uncomfortable so i would always be sure to wear something that covered them up when I had a meeting with him. I'm not one for confrontation but a few subltle hints (ie hold up some folders or papers over your chest might help get the message across. Or start staring at his groin!
