i'm not sure it was a kingfisher, it had wings and a long body and it was BIG.. it could be anything out here.

i dont have a cat, but i do leave my french windows open all day so it probably just flew in, although not sure why it would settle and die UNDER my covers?

I came out the shower last week, wrapped my towel round me and a massive spider ran up it towards my boob - I screamed twice and my OH never heard a thing. My hands shook for about an hour afterwards so was a bit of a struggle to get my contact lenses in.

We have had a few other big ones in the house - they are starting to find somewhere warm to spend winter in unfortunately.

I don't really mind spiders, its only when they creep up beside you that gets me. I was in lying in bed one night a few weeks ago watching a bit of tv before I went to sleep when a ginormous black spider casually crawled right past my nose! I've never jumped up so fast in my life.

Luckily I can call my brother and he feeds them to his lizard as a treat.

I keep getting moths and daddy long legs in my room lately that buzz around and fly into my face, I find them much worse.

Ick, poor you. I'm not scared of spiders but I hate it when they just appear out of somewhere unexpectedly. Saying that, when we lived in Aus a big wolf spider appeared on my sisters' bedroom wall and we actually took shifts sitting watching it all day in case it moved before my Dad got home from work to get rid of it for us.

LMFO at the Kingfisher that is so random

Tis indeed the season of spidees. A big one has emerged from our skirting board at the same time each evening this week. He just pops out for a minute mooches around a bit looking all spidery and then skulks back in.

I'm kinda getting used to him now

I'm not really scared of spiders but I don't like them. The other night when I was getting ready for bed I saw a spider right on the end of my bed. I still live with my parents so usually saying 'daddy, spider' does the trick but he couldn't be bothered that night so I had to do it. I put it in the bath with the idea that as they can't get out of baths it would be there still in the morning for someone to put outside, but this was some form of super spider as it ran easily up the side out of the bath!

Strudel, a pet spider - that's cool! Are you going to name it??

I don't mind spiders personally, but I do remember reading the most stomach churning thing - that each person swallows something like an average of 3 spiders a year, as they get into our moths when we sleep. Eurgh... ....sorry if that puts anyone off their tea!

manners dont reveal your weaknesses!!
i am not scared of spiders but i am slightly suspicious of anything that needs 8 eyes. why do they need 8 eyes. why? WHY??
pmsl at the dragonfly / kingfisher - wtf?? maybe you upset the Otter Mafia.
i got in my bed once and there was a wasp that had been there all day getting madder and madder and by the time i went to bed it was so mad it stung me so hard that it got stuck to my knee with his legs flapping around in the air as it tried to right itself to sting me again
i am definitely scared of wasps. they are really scary.
lau, i make little ladders out of loo paper for them when they get stuck in the bath. maybe my patented loo ladder design has caught on and they have started to mass produce their own. i want royalties. who do i speak to.

i dont believe this but i have been told it a few times. my reckoning is that a spider is like anything else trying to avoid being eaten itself and they navigate away from giants mouths by reading the CO2 we produce while breathing. which is how mosquitoes find us, other little things use it to avoid us.
i know, we can test it. whos brave enough to breathe on a spider to see if it runs off or jumps into your mouth?
but i did read that 8% of bread is insect matter.
and im vegetarian and all
