Subject: CHRISTMAS FOOOODD!!!

Hi,

seems like food and drink is a bit dead at the moment so thought I would start a new thread.

Christmas is a BIG deal for me this year, it will be my little girls first and also last year was a wipe out with morning sickness !!

I ordered my turkey and a ham last week for collection xmas eve, and my OH has asked me to make a Christmas cake, i know your supposed to do it months in advance but a month will have to do lol/

Ive also decided im going to do some baking of gingerbread and cookies on xmas eve, put them in pretty bags and give them as presents from my little girl, and give the other presents from us, it will look a little more personal, and i can eat some haha [http://community.handbag.com/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif]

So how are you getting on with Christmas plans, food and drink related........ or not [http://community.handbag.com/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/xmassanta.gif]

hi flutterby..

what a lovely idea the biscuits are as presents from your daughter..! sounds gorgeous. the smell of ginger biscuits always remind me of christmas. i followed your pregnancy story on here, how exciting its her first christmas.. i hope you have a lovely one

weve never had turkey at christmas, none of us are keen on it, so weve always had an alternative. the actual christmas dinner is never a massive deal for us. im flying back to england for 6 days over christmas, and ive missed english food so so much since ive been over here..

i imagine the whole 6 days will be filled with chocolate, wine and nibbles.. and all in huge quantities! oh and twiglets.. must have those on christmas day.

my OH is staying in spain so well have a dinner before i leave, but hes muslim so doesnt eat most meats, so it will be another alternative!

4 weeks today and I'll probably be sick of Xmas food but I'm really looking forward to it this year!

I'll be staying at my parents Xmas eve and as usual if I'm not up by 10am Xmas morning, it'll be no food for me until lunch at about 3pm...we go all out: turkey, gammon, pigs in blankets, all the trimmings - bliss.

I started Weight Watchers this year and I've managed to lose 2 stone so far, so I don't want a huge blow out this year but luckily I'm not a fan of Christmas pud or mince pies, I've never liked cream so a blessing really.

I love the idea of Ginger-Bread men - you must be so excited for your daughters first Christmas, I don't have a child and the thought of tackling a Christmas dinner etc terrifies me - kudos for you flutterby

SDRR - what other food have you missed since being in Spain? my friends who live abroad always miss english sausages, crisps, marmite and cereal...and I'm so with you about Xmas day Twiglets...!

Ooh defintely with the twiglets. I usually grab the tub as soon as my mum lets us rip on the christmas food cupboard. And she's learned to buy a few jars of little pickled onions because I'll scoff all those too before anyone gets a look in.

My mum's doing some of the xmas cake this weekend I think, so no doubt I'll be hovering around sneaking off with the marzipan.

You must be so excited for your little girl's first xmas!
