MrS wanted to put Mia in her own room at 6 months. Well weeks of sleep deprivation put paid to that LOL and she got moved into her own room at 6 weeks I think. She didnt even realise she'd been moved and slept exactly the same hours. We sleep with the doors open and with her being in her own room, I dont get woken by her every squeek or sucking her hands.
We've always put Mia down without rocking her to sleep or whatever. I think you'll make a rod for your own back doing it like this, as then they cant get to sleep any other way later on. And who wants to be pacing the floor at midnight rocking a baby to sleep?? I dont LOL.
Put him in his own room in a couple of weeks, and start putting him to sleep whilst he's still awake. If you are strict

and dont go lifting him up all the time for a cuddle or whatever, he'll put himself to sleep. The sooner you start to enforce this the better I'd say, particularly if you want to get back to work and need as much sleep as possible.
