Anyone have one? Any good? Worth the ���?
I like the look of them, and the fact that they don't have a tray so that bebe sits at the table with you. But - does this make things difficult when they're very young?
Also, on googling them, I came across some rather alarming youtube footage:

There is some rather heated debate below it though, so just wondering if anyone here has one and thinks it is perfectly safe?

Tripp Trapp high chair

Hi Ziggurat. I have two high chairs. The Tripp Trapp and the cheap plastic Ikea white one with the tray (called Antilop, you can order it online now, I think, costs 9 pounds!).
The cheap IKEA one rocks. If you plan to do baby led weaning this is *the* chair. The tray is perfect for them playing and picking up food and it's so damn easy to wash. You can also butt it up to the table so they are more or less at the table. Accept no substitute!
My baby is small and even at this stage was kicking out at the table in the Tripp Trapp and the chair fell back, although I managed to catch it in time.
I will go back to the Tripp Trapp when she's older and has learned not to kick. Or I will plant her far enough away from the table (which sort of defeats the object). I like how they look and how long they last and although I think Stokke products can be way too expensive and a bit wanky in some cases (that silly silly pram they do) I am buying their Sleepi Cot/Junior bed.
So I'd put up with a good few months of ugly white plastic. They're actually not that aesthetically unpleasing -- nothing like those horrid plasticky puffy plastic seated coloured monstrosities you see in mothercare.

A high chair is a high chair.. put baby in.. feed baby.. take baby out and wipe down. They all do the same job... Personally i think a tray is really handy.. it means you can put the chair anywhere and let them get on with the job themselves as well as making a glorious mess which they love doing

Some of those ones I've seen in Mothercare are ridiculous. For a start they look like dentist chairs, but how the hell are you supposed to clean all that padded plastic seating and twisty intricate reign nonsense. And they are so fugly and expensive.
That high chair is the best product Ikea have come up with. I bought several. One for our roof garden and one to keep at the in-laws.
If you do get a Tripp Trapp, get one off eBay.

I don't have kids but, for what it's worth, one of my brothers had one ages ago when his first baby was born, carried on using it for baby no 2 and then carried on using it as a chair for years afterwards. He always says it was really expensive to buy but it was worth every penny and then some.
His eldest daughter has now had a baby herself and has one which she (and her little boy!) love.
My other brother had 2 kids some 10 - 15 years later and he loved his chair too (and it was given to them by a friend whose kids had outgrown it)
None of them have complained about stability problems with them.

My best friend has just started her baby on rice, and I've had to bite my tongue to stop going all evangelical (and I haven't even started yet!). She was telling me that her little one isn't at all keen on it, so is thinking maybe she's not ready for weaning yet (she's nigh on 6 months). Hmm, maybe it's just that baby rice is
