Sorry everyone, something else on the site got fixed, and the work-in-progress forums were accidentally pushed live. Should revert back shortly. But yes, things are happening.
I wasn't commenting on whether it was good or bad (on balance, I think I prefer this new one, but functionality is going to be just as important as the way it looks).
I was just surprised at the suddenness with which it appeared!

It is an improvement, i'll give it that....
It's now back to the old format but the pages are all over the place with tons of text overlay. I guess this is still a temporary thing?
