The Girls' Guide to Losing Your L Plates - how to pass your driving test published by Simon and Schuster. I'm a journalist (and long-term bagger, dating back to 2003!) and I really struggled to pass my own test so thought, ok - there's a self-help book for everything else on the market (finding a man, losing weight etc - why not driving?) I put together first three chapters, synopsis and (very important for non-fiction, I think, a selling outline (giving facts and figures about how many learner drivers there are every year - think would be a good idea for any special interest, non-fiction book (ie numbers of people who have asthma, keep gerbils or whatever - also, why you're the right person to write the book (eg you're vice-president of the UK gerbil-keepeers association, you've had asthma all your life but manage it really well, etc, etc...) - and sent it out to about five agents, got some standard rejections some 'encouraging rejections' and one acceptance! Agent the sent it out to 12 publishers and I got a deal with Simon and Schuster . For aspiring authors, would really reccommend the following links Danuta Kean - Freelance Journalist
