Mr Fuchsia brought the same camera a few months back and I have to admit I use it more than him! I'm not going on a course at the moment as I'm still trying to get used to it, but will probably consider it in the future.

I have the exact same camera, and on a diy mission to teach myself, but recently have not done much with it as dont seem to have the time. Would like to enrol on a course also, have looked at doing the long distance courses aswell. Go on a few photography sites, and flickr to check out other peoples work also.

Flickr is amazing! I love photography. I shoot with a Nikon D50 and assorted lenses. It's a wonderful thing!

I need a camera for my jewellery site, Ive no idea what to do, what to get, how to put the pics on a computer. The word digital confuses me, Im still working out how to set the timer on the video. May have a look round and get on in the sales, I know it needs a macro feature but thats it. A course is a good idea, il look into that.

You'll probably be ok with a compact digital camera with a macro setting. All digital means is that you are not using film. Your camera will come with a cable to connect with your computer and some easy software to edit photos if needed.

a course is a really good idea! I have a ds70 and have tried my best to read the manual and other books but tend to switch off..I need something a little more interative. I love taking photos, and really want to learn how to take proper pictures with all the different settings.

I'm big into photography. I worked as a photographer for a newspaper for 3 years and then worked for a while changing images with photoshop. I love it! You should definately do a course! :great:

Ooooh thats handy to know snowball, I'll torture you for advice now! I'm actually turning into a geek - I was walking into work at 730am this morning and the red sun was coming up above the city skyline and I was thinking 'I blooming wish I had my camera with me' and planned in my head to get up early on Sunday to drive in and take pictures! I am defo going to do a course next year - its sooo hard to learn it all from a book

I love photography, haven't been doing nearly enough lately! I've got a canon 400d and mainly use a tamron 28-300mm lens, although i really want (and will never be able to afford) the MP-E 65 macro and the 10-22mm wide angle lenses!

I'm currently doing a digital photography course and am really enjoying it. I'm by no means an expert and I just have a compact camera but at least I've learnt how to use the different functions properly and am not just using the Automatic setting all of the time. I do wish that I had waited until spring though as the dark nights mean less time to take the pictures. Our course tutor recommended the magazine Digital Camera too which gives good tips on improving. I've also found Flickr really good, for inspiration and looking to see what settings people have used to achieve their results.

I love photography - one of my fave hobbies I'm hoping to get a digital SLR in a month or so (been saving up those pennies!). At the mo I just use a bog-standard digital, and sometimes my manual Russian tank (Zenit). I'd definitely recommend flickr - I've been a user for a few years and it's fun to look at other's pics and get comments on your's (very helpful, as there are a lot of knowledgeable people on there). x

I used to be quite heavily into it but I have no darkroom access anymore (used to be a black and white junkie) and no decent digital camera to do it electronically (I have a cheapo one like everyone but not a decent SLR). Would love any EOS digital so I could use my lenses and filters from my old system but the old chestnut of money prohibits me. I did an A-level as a night class and loved it, was a bit more arty than technical stuff but the tutor who ran the course said that the alternative City and Guilds was a bit of a blokey "whose lens is the longest" fest so I think I made the right choice there.

Well i finally got started on my C & G course and I love it so much! Haven't noticed any 'who's lens is the longest' going on though I have been so frustrated as I have done the first 2 months of the course without being able to get out and about to take photos due to not being able to drive after my op, but hopefully I'll get the all clear to drive again tomorrow and I cannot wait to get out and take a million photos! FM, it is no doubt a super expensive hobby, and made even worse when you're a 'I want everything right now' type like me :cmdunno: But....I got 2nd place in the first ever photography contest I entered so i was well chuffed with myself :yay:
