Hi everyone

Anyone into birdwatching? Just like the odd trip to watch birds as its therapeutic and a good way of getting fresh air and take some photos at same time.

If you think that its a geeky hobby thats fine by me - its your life.

In terms of collecting species or going off to see some rare bird I am not a birdwatcher. I do though find most wildlife interesting and will happily sit watching natural behaviour, though I tend to find mammals especially large herds of Red Deer more interesting and there I mean wild not park deer, as they tend to have more natural behaviour.

I do spend a fair bit of time trying to film and photograph birds, espeically over the last couple of years filming water birds and have a great clip of a Grebe catching a fish. Herons interest me and I do sometimes film them for hours trying to get "the" clip of one catching a fish.

Currently have a minor adversion to Fox Cubs though...

I don't think it's geeky, we went camping the weekend down at Weymouth and while we were there we visited (ahem) Abbotsbury Tropical Garden Centre and there was some baby swallows in a hole in a tree nesting. We couldn't look for too long as the parents might have been put off, but I would've loved to taken a photo but my hubby thought it might scare them!
But apart from that we have had blue tits nesting in the garden, I love watching out the kitchen window while I'm eating my breakfast in the morning watching the birds as we have a pond with a little puddle off it and they have a bath in it! Always makes me smile, but NOT when they crap on my car

Not at all geeky. Two years ago my son bought me a birdtable/birdbath for mothers day. I think Springwatch the previous year got me started plus I know my grandad was really keen on nature when I was growing up, and I'd already been putting fatballs out for the birds. I really enjoyed watching them in the garden. Now I've got a proper feeding station in the garden and hopefully, I might get something else "birdy" for mothers day again this year. I love seeing the birds fly in for a good feed and am now hoping something will move into one of the 3 nest boxes I've also been given. I get loads of sparrows (I know why their numbers are seemingly in decline-they're all in my flipping garden!), and I saw 3 robins at the same time a few weeks back. I love to watch the regular garden visitors but it is always special when something new flies in-a redwing about 5 weeks ago was a real treat.
