Subject: Transparent film for card making...
Hi After making my own wedding invites I have decided to start making this years Christmas cards ... in good time so that I finish them unlike just the two I made last year!!! I want to make cards with a stained glass window effect on the front using a sheet of transparent film that isnt too thick or too flimsy that it might tear or wobble etc. already paid a visit to my local craft store but the film they stock is a little too thick, and may make the card too thick and heavy. Transparency film is too thin. Anyone have any other suggestions I could check out?

Graphics - type suppliers may do different thicknesses - sorry to be a bit vague here but local independent arts shops or signmakers suppliers may be more help in your search than, say, big craft suppliers like Hobbycraft - if you're anywhere near Bedford, the Art Shop below Lurke Street carpark is worth a visit. I've got thick film from there before and it seemed to be for technical drawing work if I remember the packaging right - it was a while back though. Soz this probably isn't much help.

Viking direct should have plenty of that sort of stuff. They supply most offices etc. Quick delivery. If you are cheeky and ask for a freebie they normally give you a little something- my fave is shortbread biccies

Thank-you. My employers project images electronically from a laptop/pc to the screen - so I cannot use any of their stationary. Thanks for the tip on viking direct and staples - I'd looked in the Staples store nearest to me but had no joy... I'll check them both out tho as with Staples it was a while ago. Thanks again, Michelle

I've got something here in my office that I think is what you are talking about, called 'clear report covers'. PM me your address and I'll send you a few so you can have a look.

OHP (over head projector) film might do the trick. You should get it in stationary stores. R x
