Subject: etsy or ebay?
In the next few months I'm planning of selling some of my wares. I've heard great things about etsy on Craftster, but I'm not sure as it seems to be a very US based market. Does anyone have any experience of selling thier projects on ebay/etsy? which do you think is the best?

i don't have any experience selling on Etsy or EBay, but i have bought on both, and know people who have sold and their general consensus is this: People seem to want to pay as little as possible on EBay. People buying from Etsy KNOW that they are getting handmade goods and are willing to pay for them. Hope that helps some...

Hi - I buy and sell masses of stuff on ebay. You have a HUGE audience and as long as you keep you postage reasonably priced overseas buyers seem really interested in handmade goods, particularly Americans! The downside is that the fees are fairly high. Why don't you try selling on both? I have never heard of etsy??? but will certainly check it out!

I've never heard of etsy but I sure have heard of ebay and use it all the time. I'd say ebay is the way to go OR, try out both and see which one does best for you

Etsy has gorgeous stuff! I love it! I bought a lot of my Christmas presents from there - there are quite a few UK based sellers

Between Etsy and Ebay - Etsy every time, I sold jewellery making supplies through Ebay but I wouldn't sell my handmade jewellery there - you are up against too much mass produced stuff. I gave up my Ebay shop when the fee structure changed, I would have had to put my prices up too much to continue selling through Ebay. I sell on Etsy and DaWanda as well as my own website and I am now trying out MISI (1 sale) and Art Fire (1 sale). Art Fire is currently free to list 10 items and you don't pay fees or listing fees (if I've understood it right) so it is worth trying. Etsy is huge but is a very easy way to get a good looking shop and I don't think the fees are bad. DaWanda is a sort of european based Etsy and is currently free to list (I think this is changing soon) and a fee for sales but again not too high. Good luck with the sales !
