Subject: The Shadow of the Wind - is it worth persevering?
As the title suggests really...I bought it a few weeks ago and have read a few chapters on two seperate occassions and each time it literally put me to sleep!
I've read two fantastic books recently 'The Book Thief' and 'The Time Traveler's Wife' both of which grabbed me from the get go, but this has failed to do the same. Is it a slow burner and worth plugging away for another few chapters?
Saw a guy engrossed in his copy on the bus today, wanted to ask him his views but well, I live in London and it's not really the 'done' thing!

I personally loved it - sounds cliched but it did actually make me laugh and cry. I remember it being a bit difficult to get into, but so worth sticking with it.

Some books are just harder to get into than others. Do stick with it, though! I've read 100's of books: even "boring" ones and always feel pleased with myself when I reach the end! It'll definitely be worth it.

It is slowly starting to stuck me in - it took me until page 56 until I started to get interested, quite look forward to reading it now so I'll stick with it now
