I love Steig Larsson, and would definitely recommend him. The Millenium Trilogy is one of my all time favourite sets of fiction books http://www.wbqonline.com/home.do . If you've enjoyed Ian Rankin, you won't have a problem with Larsson at all. You should also read any of Kurt Wallander's novels, there seems to be some great crime writing coming out of Scandinavia, and it's such a shame that Larsson passed away in 2004.

oh my god! i LOVE steig larsson. actually i started my own online mystery / thriller book club http://www.ashbooks.co.uk/thrillers-books/ primarily because of him. the bookclub still needs a lot of work and love i have to admit.
anyway back to Larsson: Gril With The Dragon Tattoo is his best. tight prose, intelligent drama and just really suspenseful.
i got the book from here http://www.priceminister.co.uk/s/The+Girl+With+The+Dragon+Tattoo . it is a very good book. i recommend this title if you wanna start on his stuff.

I've just started the first one in thr trilogy, I'm finding it a bit hard going but I think that's partly because i've read it in fits and starts so havent got into the story. My sister and dad have read all 3 and are raving about them

Ooo, glad to have found this thread - I was in Waterstones the other day and they had 3 for 2 on certain books and the Larsson trilogy were included in it. I was tempted to get all three but was unsure if they were any good. Think I'll be making a return trip - holiday books, sorted!
