its out on Tuesday! Wahoo!!

www.thesims3.com http://www.thesims3.com/ . Looks like its PC only, doesn't seem to be any mention of console-version releases. Although in fairness the PC version would be better anyway.

The burning question now is....the normal edition or the collector's edition? Oh god, I really shouldn't buy it, sims 2 sent me into a playing frenzy. Bad time to be back on the market - I'll be busy sending all my sims down to the bistro for lurve instead of getting out there and looking for it myself LOL!!!

I thought it was out on the 5th (friday?). The good thing about spending all weekend playing it, is taht I won't be spending any money.

I'd forgotten all about this until now. I might have to pre-order it. I do finish uni tomorrow and have nothing to do for a month.

What's the difference between the normal and collectors edition?

The collectors edition comes with these extra's:
2 GB THE SIMS PLUMBOBâ„¢ USB DRIVE EUROPEAN STYLED SPORTS CAR DOWNLOAD NEW THEME MUSIC FROM THE SIMS 3 AN EXCLUSIVE PRIMA TIPS & HINTS GUIDE I'm not sure if it's actually available in UK. It's on ebay for about 45 quid but that's the only place I've seen it.

So whats the verdict?

I played my boyfriends and I love it so far. But i went on to the sims website forum and they say there is a lot of glitches compared to sims 2. Ive never actually played the sims 2 so I see it obviously as a big upgrade from the first 1. x

I LOVE the Sims 2 and...I'm not sure about the new one. Because of the new neighbourhood stuff it seems a lot less 'personal'- its more about completing little tasks and in-games than creating relationships between sims. It now reminds me a lot of Animal Crossing for the DS and I'm pretty sure they've lifted a lot of features from there- the in-game tasks, fishing, looking after the garden for example. The graphics aren't brilliant either but that could well be because it's too high-spec for my laptop. I will keep playing it and don't dis like it, but it's not what I was expecting.

I like it, generally. Fine, some things we got used to in Sims 2 aren't there - but I am guessing this to to make room for Expansion Packs. Scaredycat - fishing and gardening were in the Sims 2 (with expansions). So it is following on from that.

It is a bit clunky when you want to change the active household, you can't just go to the map and click on the family, and the other families change and grow old while you play another family! (although you can switch this off).

I like the Create-a-Sim a lot more now - more detail etc. Although less hairstyles and I am a bit annoyed they have opened the online "Sims Store" - where we can "buy" more things, with actual money. Its all a bit commercial and like Second Life, which I don't like.

Apart from that, I think it will be a step up. I need to play a lot more first though ;P - I am hoping a patch will come out soon as I have noticed a few buggy bits.

Any more thoughts?
