Subject: The Human Guineapig - Can You actually drop a dress size in four weeks? Or is the media well and ...
The low down being that I have a MAJOR event in exactly 4 weeks time (mass panic attack happening) and naturally, I want to look my best, however it is also crucial that I DO look my best. Anyway, so I have decided that in this time of urgency, that I absolutely must lose at least a dress size by the time of this event, I just absolutely MUST. The event happens to be a HUGE Birthday 'party' of an old friend of mine, whom I have not seen in around four years, and YES she happens to be a waif and disgustingly pretty, so you can imagine how I am feeling. There is going to be AT LEAST 200 guests, adding to my growing panic. So please, if anyone has any advice, and I mean actual advice, none of this 'beauty is on the inside' drivel, then feel free to send it my way. I'm thinking that I should continue my current calorie intake,as I know from experience that there is no point in playing silly buggers when it comes to eating sensibly. However, I'm thinking of dramatically increasing my exercise routine to possibly two hours a day? So this will be my 'diary', the blood, sweat, and of course, many, many tears! I will be brutally honest, no fabrications. The basic truth. Then we will all really know if an average (very average -it's almost wrong) woman REALLY can lose a dress size in a month...preferably two weeks, but I'm small and 'stubby' so we'll see
*sighs* right well I should probably get myself a proper set of scales to start with......I'm very open to suggestions.......
O.M.G *thought occurs as I light up* I NEED AN OUTFIT! :O :O :O :O

Love and kisses x x x x

maybe as a dress size is to lose 2inches on your bust waist and hips, up your protein take and yes bin those simple carbs and replace with veg (not incl) potatoes and complex carbs, grill all meat and eat clean, eat a proper breakfast of egg on brown toast or oats with nuts and seeds. eat three meals a day and not to stuffing point. if going to the gym eat complex carbs on top ie, cous cous, brown rice, buckwheat, polenta.wholemeal bread.

no sugar only honey for sweetening and not loads of that either bin the alcohol, eat good fats, olive oil, nuts and seeds dont eat processed foods, cook everything at home. take lunch to work. and eat lots of fibre. and drink a glass of water 30mins before eating and a cup every 2 hours.

good luck

best of luck with your challenge - igloo sums it all up real well stick to healthy clean eating and you'll be seeing results.

saying that, I've been doing WW since May last year and have managed to shift just over 2 and a half stone and that's taken me down 2 dress sizes but it took a good while to drop them. I'll be really interested to see you succeed!

I was surprised to drop 2.5lbs in a week purely by switching sugar in tea to sweetners and using skimmed milk. It really is the small changes that add up.

I've also heard that spinning classes burn the most calories per hour so you could incorporate that - seems far too hard core for me, but needs must...!

Now, then, I live in the middle of nowhere and we're waaay behind the UK on things, what are spinning classes when they're at home? Asked BF if he knew what they were, and he very charmingly said that I'm a dizzy blonde anyway so spinning classes would make me even dizzier. Revenge will be mine (somehow) You've done well KB . I tend to go at weight loss in fits & starts, which isn't good, like candydrop I tend to attack it when an event is coming up, then just scoff what I want, I have kept weight off now tho' but would like to get a bit more off without it going from my face

if you want to look healthy while losing weight add olive oil to veg and salads, you can also eat peanut butter and nut butters for added protein and healthy fats, the body needs these for healthy skin.

it is definately the small changes that make the big differences because changing the small things changes your habits for a lifetime. you can still enjoy yummy foods but not on a daily basis. the odd packet of crisps and chocolate is ok but not everyday.

Hi, Hang fire on the outfit if you're planning on dropping weight or it'll hang on you....not a good look! I have dropped half a stone in a fortnight, but that was down to stress ( works like a charm does a bit of stress & worry ) seriously tho', I am short too 5ft1 and can look stubby too, cos I'm an apple shape, got quite long legs considering I'm so small but my body is short hence the problem!!! I wouldn't rely on scales too much as if you increase exercise then you build muscle which is heavier than fat ! concentrate on "inches", that is stuff that was tight will soon feel loose, but you might well still weigh the same: I am now 9stone 3 (god) and i'd like to drop another 6 pounds. Maybe if we bin the carbs completely? I find I put weight on quick when I eat too much white (bread, potatoes, rice) so I think I will try that, and I will try to stop scoffing in the evening. Shall we give it a go? and try and drag each other through this? The tortureous (spelling?) thing is I work in a cake shop over here...loads of German cream gateaux etc aaarrgggh Let me know how u getting on, love Honeychile in Germany x

Thanks for your reply, sweetie! And O.M.G it feels so good to hear someone else say they think that they're naturally 'stubby'! Terrible to say, maybe? But true! I personally think I get it from my mothers side (she's a mere 4'10 - so we're like giants to her!). I'm unfortunately pear shaped - my partner loves my 'curvy' bum, which naturally I HATE! It also means I'm a size smaller on top than on my lower half, which naturally makes dress shopping a reeeeeal problem! I'm very much up for having a diet buddy - my friends are all waifs and yet they stuff their faces 24/7 - why is life so unfair. By the way - do not get me started on cakes - I am THEE cake fiend, terrible to say but they just call to me and they whisper dirty little things to me like 'you've been good all day, one slice wouldn't really hurt, would it?' lol. I am seriously in need of professional help! O.m.g you are only 9 stone something - good for you! But, being women we always want something more don't we? Men have it soooo easy - again, completely unfair! Let's keep each other going Team skinny!

I just want to say thank you to all of your lovely wishes, you gals are the best How was everyone's Valentines day? I had the sweetest, if not almost very fattening V'day - typical man, you tell them you are on a diet, they then buy you an acre of chocolate - what is wrong with their brains? Woman: I'm on a diet, so this means NO chocolate of any shape or form! Man: So what you really mean is that you want me to buy you loads of fatty foods to keep you fat and miserable? Right, I'm off to Thornton's!
Although I have to say my V'day was lovely, although he was excited to give me my goodies, so we celebrated it the day before! - my partners idea of romance is a pizza and wine - so cheesy but I love cheesy stuff I also got flowers, a giant stuffed teddy, chocolates (GR!) and a dvd boxset So sweet
Okay, so seeing as I wasn't online yesterday I'll fill in the gap, plus today's happenings

13/Feb:
B: 1x Banana & a mug of Green Tea L: 1x Tuna & cucumber sandwich, 8x grapes, 1x diet coke D: 2x small slices of pizza (BAAAAD but he surprised me with pizza, it would have been rude to say no!) 2x small glasses of wine
Cigarettes: 6
Exercise: it's private

14/Feb
B: 1x Banana L: 1x Banana D: 1x Baked potato with tuna & diet coke
Cigarettes: 6
Exercise: 1 hour on the exercise bike listening to the finest pop princesses!

Okay so Saturday was a naughty day - no more! After reading your comments, I've decided to cut out carbs completely and stick with fruit, veg & protein and a lot of water. Although with exercising, I am needing A LOT of water now I have to say, and it sounds banana's, but knowing you guys are interested to see if I can do it, and cheering me on, is really giving me that surge to want to stick to it and generally just see if it CAN be done. Come on ladies, lets kick up our skirts and get burning the calories! It's only four months until the summer is upon us and I can guarantee that all of us want to look our hottest and feel our best! No more excuses, no more 'I'll do it tomorrow', let's just do it! I don't know about you, but I am so tired of looking at pretty dresses and thinking 'wow that is stunning but I'd need to be a size 10 at least, to pull it off', it's depressing and only we can fix this, so let's start fixing it. Also, here is a little something to get you thinking; why is it that you will work for 4 weeks to earn the money that you get paid each month, but you won't work out four times a week to earn the body that you desire? I had this thought while I was commuting at 8am and feeling cold, half asleep and miserable (I'm in Scotland - the weather is ALWAYS miserable). I mean, it just REALLY gets you thinking, right? Aren't we just neurotic? I mean, the brutal truth is that no matter what your occupation, no one particularly LIKES working, but we do, because we like the end result, the end result being money. Why on earth can't we apply this to our daily life? Are we neurotic? Or are we lazy? To get the job that you want, you HAVE to work your butt off, there are no short cuts, no easy way to do it. Yet we expect to have an amazing body, without having worked for it? Or having to continue to work to maintain a happy weight? I find now that with dieting, it is almost like having to reprogram your brain in a sense, an example of this would be before if I wanted to eat something, I simply would without even thinking about how many grams of fat, salt, sugar or calories was in it. However, now, before I think about eating something I way all of these factors up and think okay, food A has the same calories as food B, but which will fill me up? which is healthier? which will make me feel like I want to kill myself afterwards and make me feel guilty ALL day? In short, you HAVE to talk sense to yourself. I'm being to sound mad, however, put it in to perspective; if you were purchasing a car or a house etc what do you do? You weigh up the pros and cons. Why wouldn't, or doesn't, or didn't this apply to what you were putting in to your body? It is so obvious what I was doing wrong before, yet I did it for a very long time and could not work out what I was doing wrong! It was so obvious, yet I didn't see it. Perhaps due to naivety, or perhaps because I wanted something easy, something that would give me an awesome body, without requiring the hard work and dedication. Unfortunately, the ugly truth is; if you want a hot body, be prepared to work for it. However, unfortunately there are THOSE people out there, that with the magic of amazing genetics can sit on their butt, eat muffins and stay waif-thin, unfortunately, we are not those people. It sucks, it really does, but hey the majority of us aren't born millionaires either, sometimes, just sometimes, we have to work for the things we want in life.
Sorry for the loooooooong spiel but this revelation came to me and I wanted to share it.

How is everyone doing with their regime? How is life treating you?

Thanks guys, you rock!

Love and kisses x x x x x SJ

P.S. how about for fun, if anyone wants to embark upon this lose weight marathon, after we have reached our desired size we upload before & after pics? Just a fun thought No pressure, completely voluntary of course. However, I think this may also encourage healthy habits Hence, suggesting it! To make me do things, I need pressure! Pressure! Not healthy
