Subject: Can I dye my hair?? Please Help....
Hi,

I dyed my naturally brown hair red a few months ago and now I'd like to dye it blonde. Would this be possible? The red has faded quite alot on the ends of my hair now, but the top is still quite bright, but my brown roots have started to come through.

Please help me
xxAlex

Red is one of the hardest colors to bleach out - it just STICKS to hair, and leaves you with orangey undertones. I'd wait for 6 months since you dyed it red, use a shampoo like H&S which will help strip the dye. And if you get orangey tones, use a toner, don't keep bleaching.

I have been tring to get rid of the black dye in my hair and have been washing my hair in Vo5 blond shampoo and i am surprised to say but it's working!! the brown is coming back!! I have been washing it with it for maybe 2 months and it has really helped the blending back.

Be very careful if you try bleaching, I went to the hairdressers and explained I wanted to dye my almost black with red/pinkish undertones lighter so they said they would have to dye it darker to try get rid of the red first. They did that about 3 months ago, but I got impatient and under foolish instruction from a friend decided to home bleach. Oooooh dear, my hair had lovely white roots and some fantastic shades of orange going down to the tips. I ended up having to cover it up with browny/red hair dye so my hair wouldnt go green.

If you really want to go lighter, seek advice from a salon - doing it at home could lead to a fantastic Daphne Scooby Do style.
