Subject: Silver/grey hair dye
Hi
I'm looking to dye my hair silver/grey but dont want to use a bleach. My hair is naturally whiteish colour..but not in a nice way.

I have been using an ash blonde to try and tone it down....but it doesnt last very long and it ends up looking like a bad blonde dye, which is how it looks at the moment.

So I thought I would dye my hair silver/grey but I have looked in all the usual places and cant find any....so does any one know if you can buy this colour or any thing close to it that would even my hair colour out without me having to use a darker colour.

Thanks
Shellxx

There were a couple of dyes by L'Oreal a few years ago but they've not been on the shelves for ages. Shame - because well cut white or silver hair is amazing. I've been using Schwartzkopf's A Touch of Silver shampoo for a while. It's blue and tones down any brassiness and makes your haire shine brighter. It also works on toning down ligher shades of blond that don't look 'right', if you get my drift.

Not necessarily the answer you were looking for, but I hope it helps.

What about a honey blonde as opposed to ash, you can't use ash blonde on grey hair as it's got lilac tones and will give a dirty lilac colour off.

I would recommend Wella SP Silver Saver shampoo. I was keen on the ashy grey / silver look and used this all the time as anything your hair dresser puts on your hair to achieve that colour is probably just a toner on top of bleach or a dye which will wash out. The more you use it the more grey your hair will go but it's just temporary so if you want to go back to your normal colour or more golden look then just stop using it or alternate with a normal shampoo.

I like the idea of the silver shampoo will definitely give that a try.

Thanks for all the other ideas as well
