Please help, I'm a bit bewildered with all the many products on sale.

I have shoulder-length fine hair. I've never had it this long ever in my life. It's very dry at the ends and tends to frizz with humidity. I wash it every other day.

I dye it because it's about 60% grey and it'll be a cold day in hell before I revert back to being au naturel.

Can anyone recommend a shampoo and/or conditioner that will nourish my hair? Budget isn't an issue. I would go to a salon but I feel they won't be able to give me unbiased advice, only try and sell me what is on their shelf at the time?

Thank you.

Thanks for your advice guys. In the end I looked at a hair shampoo selling website and there was a section where you could email and get advice. I was advised on two kerastase products and the email was very detailed and informative, so I've taken the plung and ordered the two products. Hopefully it'll be the end of my dry hair (which looks so awful at the moment).

Thanks again.

Vicky

I found my hair going through some funny changes recently and my hair has gotten less frizzy but even with that I had frizz on top so I started using the orange Herbal Essences bottle. It's a cheap fix but does the trick, makes my hair smooth and frizz free.

www.activebeauty.co.uk http://www.activebeauty.co.uk/ . It was recommended on here before. Very good. I'm very happy with my new haircare stuff and my hair is already on the mend.

Kerastase is a good choice and what I would recomment. When I had a 'going blonde' accident a few years ago and ended up with silver, then grey, then ginger, then back to brown with bald patches (!!!) I used Kerastase religiously and my hair was so much better for it.

I have just written a whole article on this at my blog, listed below in my signature. I have the same problem and the absolute best product I have ever used is Redken's Allsoft shampoo and conditioner. I list loads of tips and tricks, as well as other products in the article - too many to list here so you should have a quick look at it! I hope it can be of some help to everyone as it's been a problem for me for so long and these products and advice I have picked up over the years really do make a difference. I just can't wean myself off the highlights!

Hi Vicky

I was just wondering by any chance could you share the products you were recommended by the site. I sent them an email and they never replied. I have the same problem with my ends being very dry and getting lots of split ends lately.

Thanks

I like to use the T3 dry shampoo, because they have a formula for dark hair. My dark brown hair always looks grey and powdery when I use any of the other dry shampoos or baby powder.

I would recommend you to switch to sls free shampoo http://www.hairoffice.com/sulfate-free-shampoo.html . They are way more gentle and harmless than the ordinary shampoos.

Try with natural oils. Apply on scalp and hair before washing. Leave at least 1 hour. I recommend olive and almond oils.

I use Daniel Galvin Jnr Organic shampoo... honestly it is amazing and leaves my hair feeling lovely and soft, even before I condition it. I know everyone tends to recommend more salon-specific brands but the DGJnr organic range are really good too. I think they're so good for the hair because they haven't got any sulphates or anything in them... so they're much more gentle than other shampoos. Also, unlike many 'natural' products they do lather up really well. I'd recommend giving them a try... if you read the ingredients all of them are from things like coconut and stuff.

Also they smell amazing!!

I get mine from Waitrose too, which is nice and convenient - no going to a salon or paying P&P to get them online.

I have the same problem. I always use Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner but recently I bought Sunsilk in the purple bottle, I think it's "Thermashine". It works good. I've always heard that you can take Vitamin E and that would help. Never tried it myself though. I have tried olive oil on my hair and cover w/ a cap and heat w/ a blowdryer. That works pretty good too.

Hiya,

You need something to fix your hair, like Philip Kingsley elasticizer. This stuff is amazing, and will sort out the dryness, and make your hair stronger. Also, I would recommend a de-tangling spray to use on your hair when wet so that you're not damaging your hair when coming it - as it's at its weakest. I use the Aussie leave-in conditioner, and it seems to work but my hair type is quite different to yours, so you're probably better off buying an actual de-tangling spray. I think Tresemme and Charles Worthington both do one, but have a look around. Other things you can do are mentioned on my blog post here -

Hope that helpsx

Yesterday i tried a Tresemme Hair Mask- it's a cream you leave on for 5 mins then wash off and supposed to deep condition your hair, i did notice a difference i must admit.

I have also bought a red tub of Herbal Essences Hair Mask and they recommend you use it once every week. So that's what i'm going to do use a hair mask until the dryness improves.

I have gone back onto the herbal essences shampoo and conditioner as well i did use the blue coconut hydration one but now i'm trying out the orange bottle - white nectarine and rose tea- it's v GOOD.

Spots are my real problem at the mo and i am doing everything i can to make them go away i tried simple spot zapper roll on and anti blemish moisturiser - helps a little but i noticed my clarins roll on works better on my skin- so i am going back to using that tonight and see if there is improvement in the morning.
