I saw something about this in a magazine - it said it lightens your hair in a few shampoos. I can't think how it works, really... Surely only peroxide/ ammonia will actually lighten hair? If it does work though, then presumably if you stop using it you will get a regrowth? Anyone got any thoughts, info or experience - I'm curious... Thanks Sara x

I saw it in the Superdrug magazine and thought it sounds great. Doesn't it come out this month?

EDT as looked on the site...... Will this product colour my hair? No, none of the Sheer Blonde shampoos or conditioners deposit or add any colour. Instead, they work to intensify glistening highlights by gently removing dulling buildup and residues that can make blonde look dark and dull. Your natural, highlighted or colour-treated hair will be instantly restored to bring out your brightest, most luminous blonde. If I have brunette hair with blonde highlights, will this product lighten my brunette shade? No, none of the Sheer Blonde products will change the colour of your Brunette hair. The Highlight Activating Shampoos and Conditioners do not deposit or add any colour and instead, work to rid hair of dulling residue that can make hair look dark and dull. As a result, your hair will be restored to its intended shade, allowing the natural clarity of your colour to shine through. Its a clarifying shampoo nothing more!!!! It may make the hair look slightly lighter BUT don't expect alot of difference as TBH it wouldn't make it lighter theres nothing in it to produce that effect!!!! The only reason the hair will/may look lighter is that the hair will be stripped of all the crap that gets on it xx

And Vosene will do that at about a quarter of the price!

Well, my curiosity got the better of me and I called John Frieda and spoke to a lovely girl in their consumer advisory department. The information in the FAQ bit that another bagger has kindly quoted was written about the Sheer Blonde range before they launched the Go Blonder products - and correctly descibes the clarifying action of the Sheer Blonde range. The Go Blonder products, however, are different. The FAQ blurb has not been updated since they launched the Go Blonder products. The girl explained that the Go Blonder products contain a significant level of citric acid and chamomile and DO actually have a lightening effect on blond hair - albeit very subtle. She says that the Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner are suitable for use on natural hair and hair lightened with tint of bleach - whether you have a full head of colour or highlights. She told me that the lift in colour would vary from person to person depending on their hair but that sustained use over a couple of months would produce the best effect. Finally, she said that because the effect is so subtle - like the sun during the summer - and the products contain no ammonia or peroxide (unlike "Sun In") - you will not experience a regrowth. So there you are - I'm glad I called! Sara x:)

I started using the Go Blonder and the new/latest Sheer Blonde thickening range this year. In the last 6 months my naturally blonde hair has become significantly thinner, to the point that you can see quite large areas of pinkness of my scalp through the crown and side partings. I had noticed that my hair seemed to be coming out in greater amounts when I was washing it and whilst drying after using this range. My hoover bag was also becoming full very quickly (my hair is long) and I was finding much more hair all over my house, and on seats and clothing etc. I never dreamed that it could be this range as I have used the OLD Sheer Blonde range (shampoo/conditioner) over the years without problems. However, I decided to stop using all of thise new range last month and hey presto my hair loss has returned to a normal rate. It's just too much of a coincidence........ When I contacted the John Freida dept. to inform them of my experience, I received a reply which completely ignored the issue that their products may be the reason for the hair loss (what a surprise). All I can say is that due to my experience be aware that you may also experience hair loss and therefore use their new Go Blonder, Sheer Blonde thickener with caution (if you must use them at all). However, in my opinion it is just now worth it........................................... (PS: I found a site on my search which also recorded other people's hair loss experiences with these products).

I have just finished a bottle of this and my hair is dark brown, it is now a light brown, which is great for the summer. I think primarily it is the chamomile that lightens the hair. I am really pleased with the results and have also found a cheaper version containing the same ingredients in Sunsilk blonde shampoo which is currently in tesco's for 1.00!

Bargain!

If its the Chamomile thats making peoples hair blonder, then why not brew a strong chamomile tea and use that on your hair? I do this sometimes and it seems to work and obviously 100% natural so no risk at all of damage

Hi, I have used it..to be honest didn't make a huge difference to my highlights...if you want to tone brassy hair down and seem blonder then use a purple/blue shampoo..Aveda Blue malva is a good one as it does a conditioner too,...or try this which is what i use regulary.

I have tried both the shampoo and conditioner and didn't notice any difference. Don't waste your money.

My hair is a strange colour - not exactly dark blonde, but not quite brown either... Anyway, I bought this hoping to bring out the natural blonde tones in my hair, and I have to say I did notice a difference (albeit subtle) - especially when its sunny and all the nice golden streaks come through.
I'm about halfway through my bottle, and all I would say is do not buy this expecting it to make you blonde (Yes I admit, thats kind of why I bought it too

I have tried this and it really dried my hair out so it was just a crazy frizz ball and completely unmanageable. You're right it can't really make your hair lighter. Presumably it just removes any residue and build-up from your hair to make the blonde stronger/more vibrant, and treats it with products which will help it lighten if you go in the sun. This treatment makes it so dry though - if you colour your hair blonde then it is already lacking in its natural moisture, so to use products which will strip residue will also result in even more loss of natural oils which you really need! I would advise just getting your hair highlighted/colour washed and then focusing on using shampoo and conditioner to maintain the health and condition of your hair. See my blog for more tips and an article I just wrote on dry/chemically treated hair.
