Subject: HELP! I have dreadful scarring on my legs!
Due to a rather embarrassing habit of "tweezing" ingrown hair, and a problem with exzema, my lower legs are absolutely awful to look at. I am doing well with the habit (no more tweezers) however, the eczema means I have itchy bits, and very dry bits (which are itchy). I really want to get rid of this asap, can anyone offer any advice? I am willing to try anything. Please, please!! HELP!!!

oooh snap...... thought i was the only one who suffered....

i too hide my tweezers, as i could do it for hours, and the eczema which is horrendous at the mo means i can't even get a razor near my legs so am in need of help. The worse my eczema gets the worse problem i get with ingrowns, i guess its cos my skin goes so dry?

I use epiderm cream stuff from teh docs, it helps but its not a cure.... and it really greasy! yuck.....

Have you tried Bio oil? It's meant to be good for scars and as a oil should also help with the dry skin.

Thanks for your replies, have tried the bio oil, seems to help. Just need to make sure I do that instead of picking!

You might like to try wrapping a layer of cling film round your legs at night over the bio oil or other cream you use. Though if the cream is presciption might be best to check with your doctor before putting cling film over that. Cling film over a good layer of moisturiser or something like bio oil or rose hip oil (this is good for scarring) really does help dry skin and by keeping the skin moist helps promote healing and reduces scabbing. Perhaps try it for one night and see how you get on.

Hey, all of you are great! Gonna try the cling film thing. Other thing I want to do is tan my legs, hopefully cover the mess. Any suggestions? ~Have exfoliated with the gingerbread man from philosophy (what a man) but not sure anout applying self tan. Any advice much appreciated!

me too! although i dont have the eczma, just awful scarring from picking ingrown hairs. I've been using Prolagene by Decleor. it hasnt cleared the scarring completely but it has definitely helped. some johnsons moisturiser with the hint of self tan also really helps!

Just wanted to add that I have recently started using Dream cream from Lush, and it has made a huge difference in just over a week!! My exzema is almost non existant, so I can really start trying to fade the swcarring now. I really recommend this to anyone suffering from exzema like I do!
