Hi, I'm interested to find out if anyone has tried microdermabrasion before, at home or in a clinic.
If so, please share your views on it. Did it improve your skin/complexion? I am thinking of buying the Dermanew system, apparently used by many in Beverly Hills!

Yes, I have. I got it for the first time in March last year. I would say its definitely worth doing. I went to a salon. I've not tried the home products but I like treating myself every now and then to a salon treatment.

I did it last year because (as with every year in the Spring) my skin felt dull, tired and dry and I wanted to really awaken it and get going for Spring.

I would say, its definitely worth doing. It's just like a facial but with an extra exofliation bit in it. It's not quite as relaxing as a normal facial because of the microdermabrasion machine. It's not painful or anything just a bit like gravel on your face - but that's often the case with any exfoliator. My skin felt amazing after - baby soft and so fresh and full of life again. I think it cost me about 45 which is only marginally more than what you'd pay for a normal facial. Once or twice a year, that cost seems worthwhile (to me anyway).

In fact, your post has reminded me to book an appointment for one! They recommend doing it every 6 months but to be honest, I forgot in the Autumn but I don't think it matters too much.

Thank you for your reply. I think I'll try the home version first. Not sure about 'gravel on your face' feeling though!

Microdermabrasion is one of the most popular non-surgical skin resurfacing procedures but it's not completely free of risks. Can you tell me about the side effects of the same???

Thanks in Advance !!

Well it looks like Cosmetic Charlotte gives the thumbs up for the Dermanew system.
According to her, no side effects,

Detailed youtube vid review by her on how to use it as well:

Will definitely try it now.

Hey

I have actually (on my friends recommendation) bought the Boots No7 total renewal microdermabrasion exfoliator. And I've used it a couple of times and am really impressed. It's 10.50 but if you've got one of those 5 off vouchers, you can get it for 5.50 until 28th March (I don't work for boots, I've just got about 4 of the things!).

It's left my skin really smooth and baby soft and really helped with a face masque a put on after - to sink into my skin. It just feels slightly finer than a normal exfoliator but the results are significantly better.

I'm not aware of any side effects that I've had for either salon or the home treatments. I would imagine though that you might get reddening of the skin for a bit and it might be slightly more sensitive. They do recommend using at least factor 15 on your skin afterwards - which I do anyway.

I've had a few in a salon. One of them left me quite tender around my nose but the others were ok. My skin looked loads better and I think the products worked better afterwards as well.

I will probably ask at my local Salon, as i'm due a hair appointment next week, so i will see if they do microdermabrasion? If not i could try a facial, they even do reiki, massages, eye brow tints, make up, portfolio photos and nail file and tidy. For women they do false nails with loadsa different patterns.

But it will just be for a hair appointment next week. They style men's hair as well. If you have a local salon that does these, you might want to treat yourself to one of the above, as i know how refreshing even having a haircut is. I always ask my hairdressers tips on how i should be styling my hair, what hair care products i should be using on my hair etc, and what the best hairstyle for me would be.

Go on treat yourself
