Crest Whiteing Strips are quite good. I got some off e-bay (couldn't find them in stores) and have used them ever since.

That or Rio Whiteing System (available from Argos I think) seems to get good results.

Home bleaching kits will not work. You need a stronger peroxide percentage to bleach the teeth and it's illegal to sell peroxide gels etc over a certain percent (unless you are a dentist) you will find various beauty therapists which do tooth whitening but they can't offer the same aftercare as a dentist can, especially if things go wrong! So go to your dentist, it'll cost a couple hundred quid but once it's done you just need to top up a couple times a year and you'll be back to brilliant white!!

If you're thinking of purchasing teeth whitening kits http://naturawhite.com/homewhitening.cfm be careful, particularly if you are buying online. I've noticed a lot of companies now offer free trials on teeth whitening or even free teeth whitening kits. The same thing has been going on with Acai Berry, you can read about it here - teeth whitening scams http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/features_julieshealthclub/2009/10/online-ads-may-be-teethwhitening-scam.html

Basically these companies get you to pay nothing or just the shipping costs, however sign you into a contract where they bill you a ridiculous amount every month. The practice is far from ethical but still these companies manage to exist.

If you are thinking of getting teeth whitening, look for a company that is recognized (Colgate for example), or get it done locally.

I used Crest whitestrips about a year ago after people on here recommended them but i'd be careful with them if you have sensitive teeth. I think you're supposed to use them twice a day but I ended up having to miss out full days of doing it because they were just killing my teeth but they've had a mainly positive response from a lot of people. It's probably best to just get them done professionally because the results will be the best and will last longer but in the mean time I've found that Arm and Hammer toothpaste makes my teeth a lot whiter if you're on a budget.

I have just had my teeth whitened by my dentist... Well you get given the gel and some trays to fit over your own teeth to do yourself. The verdict: Well worth the money. I paid 300 but now have perfectly white teeth, which have had no sensitivity at all during the treatment. Treatment took around 6 weeks but I am assured that I will only need to "top up" once a year or less. The problem with a lot of Internet tooth whitening products is that the peroxide will 'eat' into your enamel and make it porous and therefore create sensitivity and POSSIBLY undermine your teeth. The PolarWhite that was prescribed to me by my dentist actually hydrates the tooth and protects it (so he told me...) I hope this helps you, if you have any further questions then contact me through Handbag!

My friend is a dentist and she did some moulds of my teeth and then gave me 4 syringes of 15% gel to use. It was steradent Carbamide Peroxide.

since then I have gone on ebay and bought the same make as she gave me. The trays fit my teeth perfectly and I wear the trays overnight. Have noticed a huge difference to my teeth. if I use it too many nights in a row, my teeth can get sensitive but loads of people noticed how white they were. Previously I had used products from boots and crest and hadn't noticed any difference.

Now my mate has sorted me with the trays i can top up on gel whenever i want a boost. I am really pleased with the results.

Plus White 3 Minute Speed Whitening Gel is excellent, I bought it in the US but I am sure you can get it online. I initially needed it as I had two 'black' teeth due to trauma from an accident years ago, not only has it worked on these teeth which are pretty much the same shade as the others but have also used it on the rest of my teeth, which are much whiter. This treatment is used twice a day for two weeks and I have not experienced any sensitivity. It did not come with any mouth tray which I didn't need but you can buy it with the trays

Hey,
Bought a home whitening kit a few months ago called The Smile Place. think it is www.thesmileplace.co.uk http://www.thesmileplace.co.uk . Would definitely give them a try. Cost about 99 pounds but well worth it. I can now smile in photos and not go for the sultry look the whole time!!! Its basically the same as going to the dentist but you do the impressions yourself and send it back to the company and they then send you a custom gumshield. I have used Crest Whitening strips before and they made my teeth really sensitive. My friend has also just forked out 400 quid on hers at the dentist and I really dont why she spent so much.

It's better to have it done proffesionally because if there is any side effects to bleaching the teeth at least the dentist is there to rectify it.
Try using some tooth mousse in the mouth tray if you find your teeth are becoming sensitive, sometimes we have to advise patients to alternate with the tooth mousse if they find their teeth becoming too sensitive.

Like KittyKatkai I also used www.thesmileplace.co.uk http://www.thesmileplace.co.uk but got it at 80.00!!! as they had/have a New Year promotion. Worked well for me, and was aslo told about it by a couple of mates who have really gorgeous bright teeth. They have a dentist who checks everything so you can always get help and answers if your not sure.

I recently tried an e-bright home whitening system which has worked well for me. It uses LED light to activate a whitening gel which is apparently how dentists do it. You use it for 3 or 4 days for 20 minutes - really easy!
