Subject: Laser hair removal for bikini line
I just bit the bullet and booked my first consultation with sk:n for laser hair removal for my bikini line. I'm just so sick of waxing! I almost booked electrolysis but I think I'd rather save the time and go with laser since I have the "ideal" skin type of pale with dark hair. I might get my underarms done too.

Have I made the right decision? Has anyone else had this done?

Also it's 99 per treatment (or 129 if with underarms) or 495 for 6 treatments (or 645 with underarms) - shall I just pay-per-treatment in case I only need 4-5 treatments or will I definitely need at least 6? Does this seem like good value for London?

Thanks for your advice in advance!

I would love to get this done as I hate waxing!

It makes sense to book 6 and get the discount - I know when I looked into it before the consultant lady i spoke to said 5/6 is the usual amount you'd need. By the way, re your other thread she also did spider vein laser treatment and said they disappear pretty much on the spot (she said they were her favourite kind of treatment for this reason)

Let us know how you get on!

I'm told it's about every 8 weeks but I guess it depends on hair type etc, will let you know what they say at my consultation on Thursday!

I am part way through a course of 10 for both underarm and bikin and it was going really really well but I stopped the sessions over the summer as the laser doesn't work on tannned skin and I have had a lot of regrowth that I thought had disappeared for ever

Got an appt on Thurs to restart.

I have mine done at a Dove Spa as they had a half price offer on at the time as they were just introducing the machines - might be worth seeing if there is one close to you? 50 a session is much more bearable than 99!

I'm really hoping that the next few sessions will make as much of an impact as the first 4 did.

I have had a full course of 6 from Sk:n clinic in Leeds. It has made a huge difference but sadly I think I will have to book more, in fact on my last one she said that I'll probably need about 2 a year to keep it hair free - they don't tell you that when you sign up for a course!! Having said that it is still preferable to waxing and 2 a year is manageable.

Hi all, so I had my first treatment on extended bikini and underarm - it's a little painful but bearable. I'm nervous after reading the above post as I was kind of hoping it would be 6 treatments and hair-free forever, but it sounds like more may be required.

Financially sk:n has worked out pretty well as they have a 12 month 0% interest payment plan which works out at just over 60 quid a month for the extended bikini+underarm x 6 sessions. So I guess so far I'd recommend it but will wait to see what the regrowth is like! The sessions are every 6 weeks FYI so the whole thing is done in ~30 weeks.

I went back to continue with my course last week and they awere clear to me that IPL is "permanent hair reduction" NOT "permanent hair removal".

Hmmmmm, that wasn't my understanding when I parted with my cash at the beginning.

Oh! I thought it was permanent as well. How disappointing.

My understanding is that some people find it works permanently and others find they need 1-2 "top ups" per year after the initial course so I guess it just depends on your hair/skin type, type of laser used, etc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi, thought I'd come back to this thread as I have just had another session and have four more left. The therapist told me that the Dove Spas in the UK are all having a half price promotion on courses of IPL till end of November!

You can find your nearest salon here:

Oh, and I told her I was disappointed that I had a lot grow back over the summer and she said that she had only told me to stop the treatments cos I said I wanted to get a tan, and that I should be more committed if I wanted good results! Hmmmm.

even so, only having to clean up 1-2 times a year is faaaaar better than constantly shaving!

Hi guys, had my second treatment at sk:n this week for my bikini line and underarms - I'm really impressed with the results so far. I didn't have to shave at all between the 1st and 2nd sessions, there was basically no regrowth. The treatment is still pretty painful, but it was less so this time as I knew what to expect.

I have to say that I don't think they're particularly friendly at sk:n but it does seem to be effective treatment and the 0% payment plan has made it really easy for me to afford it.

Will keep you all updated, but so far it's awesome! I love not worrying about having to get a wax!

It seems quite pricey.

Interesting to read the comment from DairyGirl. Has anyone had this done several years ago and is still hair-free? I'm a little sceptical.
