Subject: rights of MY pocessions(WHICH WERE GIVEN AS GIFTS!)
Hi, would like some advice please, my ex came over tonite asking me to print something for him, which i did (more fool me now!)
Anyway, sat and had a chat, emotions started running high, he threw back a watch i had bought for him for his birthday and then he said he would be back round this week to get everything he had given me in my flat!
I am borrowing his step ladders, which he can have back .no problem
but he gave me large mirror as a gift for the flat( as we had decided to live apart )and we swapped bedsteads, now he wants these back but he has things I have given him and I have no need for them back, don't quite know where I stand
Can he turn up and come in and take these things when he gave me them, they are in my flat
He is being really funny about everything, having the watch thrown at me was not nice, what sort of person wants their gifts back??

You don't have to return gifts so he can't take them if you don't want to give him them... but tbh does it really matter? If he wants to be a bell end then let him.

I remember getting into an argument as a teen with a friend and she asked for the gift she had given me, back. Your best bet is to just give him back the presents. But do ask for the stuff YOU gave HIM back, too. If he wants to play games like that, so be it. Don't leave empty handed, basically.

Yes, if they were gifts you dont need to return, but if he went to court it would be up to the judge to decide to whether they were truely gifts.
I sort fo agree that maybe you just give them back. It means you dont need to deal with him, it closes the chapter. But ask for any gifts you gave back first.
