Do people still have boardgame nights?

When I was a kid, me and my family would regularly gather around the table for a game of Monopoly or Cluedo... and now, me and my friends gather once a month or so to play more unusual games like Robo-rally and Ticket to Ride. But if I mention to people I've just met that I like boardgames then I get funny looks...
My OH and I sometimes crack open a bottle of wine and play monopoly- its better than sitting in front of the TV/internet 
And I have been to a few parties at friends houses where we play games- the one where you have to describe something and the others have to guess what you are on about (can't remember what its called). Great fun when you're a bit tipsy, and breaks the ice with people you might not know too well.
