Subject: Dream job?
What's your dream job? I've never really known what I want to do in my life, and have never been able to figure out what my dream job would be... does anyone know what they would love to do if they had the chance?

Story of my life, Lady_Witch, I found pretty much left alone ever since I left school, ending up in a dreary office environment and sticking with it for years. Only recently I discovered I would really like to "help" people, and I've started a herbalist course now, and hope to make that an enjoyable career at some stage. I've also always loved languages and translating (I translated my first book when I was 15), but was only "pushed" into doing translations as a proper job when I was made redundant a few years ago. Have you ever tried to take proper notice of what you really enjoy doing, and then see if you can find courses or information on jobs in that regard?

I couldn't figure out what I liked - I've got a talent for learning to read written languages, but can't really speak or formulate new sentences (except for Japanese, which I can speak and not write! ooops...) and I like the law but disliked my solicitor when I was a legal secretary... but now I think I might actually be doing my dream job!

Is there anything in particular you enjoy that you might be able to work towards?

I really enjoy crafts, and love sewing, but don't think I'm good enough to make a career of it :P nor do I think I could make enough money doing it to make it worthwhile... I'm very much aware that it can be really hard to make a living in the 'crafts' as my mum had a ceramics studio when I was a teen, and ended up going bankrupt :P

I'm the same as you Lady_Witch, I spent two years at college, three years at uni and still don't know what I want to do! I hoped uni would push me in the right direction but it didnt.

However...I know this isn't for a lot of people but I work in an office at the moment and actually quite enjoy my job! As long as I've got things to keep me busy and I'm slightly interested in the company then I'd happily sit at a computer doing a 9-5 week (boring I know!)

Hm Lady_Witch, why not try out your hand on the crafts you like on some "test persons" (make some birthday presents and see what the reaction is), and if it's favourable, get yourself one of those free websites going to advertise your wares - no harm in trying that on the side now, is there ?

My dream would be to be a paid poet! I'd also LOVE to work in publishing. That would be a dream come true. I love books and magazines and devour them on a regular basis. I also am interested in music. I always have a CD on! But the media is where my heart lies.

I like traveling the most. That is my biggest hobby, my dream job would be something that allow me to travel to different places most of the time. lol

Beside tour guide, can you think of any career that can help me to achieve that goal? Thanks a lot!
