I'm planning a trip to America and we'll be going to both NY and LV.

Where is best for shopping? I.E taxes, choices etc?

I'm only going to be buying bits like cosmetics etc, nothing spectacular.

Well we were bowled over by the outlet stores over there, although they're always somewhere out of town, but as long as you have a car, it shouldn't be a problem

I would definitely recommend New York, as it is great for shopping and generally cheaper than in the UK, even after adding state taxes,(but then I guess as I've just written a New York guidebook, I'm probably biased)!

New York definitely has the better reputation for shopping, but most places in the US seem to have out-of-town outlet stores and they're usually much cheaper than the UK. Whenever I've been to the US I've come back with some much stuff... and I've only been using NY as a place to change flights!
