I'm not so bad with vegetables (although last year's cucumber may disagree) but I'm awful with houseplants! It doesn't matter what I do or how much I read up on them, I'm useless with them. The only things I've not led to an early death are the Aspidestra (apparently near-impossible to kill) and an osteospermum that mysteriously thrived in my care (it died of old age, which made me inexplicably sad).

Does anyone else have a talent for killing off plants?

Hmmm, my sister-in-law invariable kills off any plants you give her, probably because she's more interested in her assorted pets (2 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, 2 budgies, 2 parrots, 2 cats plus one horse) LOL

I once managed to kill a cactus. And everything else my mother used to put on my windowsill to "brighten up the place, dear".

Now I live alone I don't even bother with buying plants anymore.

ETA: My mother actually gave me another cactus for my birthday! I wonder how long it will live...
Truth is beautiful, without doubt; but so are lies.

I absolutely love house-plants, but like you Aestivilis I'm terrible at keeping them alive! The best I've managed was some random plant I picked up at tesco's which I kept forgetting about... it lived nearly two years on the intermittent watering I gave it... then died. I've not bothered buying more, but am thinking I may need to in the spring!
