Hi all,

My goal for the beginning of next year is to learn a new language. I learnt French and German at school, but had dire teachers, so didn't take them up as an option.

So, I'm thinking it would be a good hobby. BUT I really don't know which language is the most useful these days. I'm swaying towards French or Spanish.

Any tips on which would be the best/most useful/EASIEST?

Most useful in business is probably Chinese but it's probably one of the hardest to learn...
If you want to learn one just for fun maybe pick one, that they speak in a country where you'd like to go on holiday and then reward yourself with a trip there?

Hiya katy-kat, I would tend to say Spanish, especially as you've already learned some of it, and I find it quite easy, as long as you get your tongue round those rolled "rs" LOL. There's also quite a few people speaking it around the world.

I'd opt for German or Spanish as the most useful (in the world of work) or if you're up for a real challenge, something like Mandarin, Chinese.

It really saddens me that as kids we don't see the opportunities that languages bring us. I refused to take language classes and SO regret it these days.
