Subject: Exercising with leg injuries
I've developed shin splints - and a nasty set of blisters on both feet from going out with friends - but since most of my exercise is foot-based (walking, running, hula-hooping) I'm a bit at a loss for what to do to keep up my exercise levels without putting too much strain on my legs. I can't go swimming because the pool is too far away and has some very peculiar opening times.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good exercises that can help tone up and lose weight without putting too much stress on the legs?

Cycling and general toning exercises until your blisters clear up then gentle walking until the shin splints are better.

Haha, I've got to be the only person who's actually forgotten how to ride a bike. (I did try; it didn't go well... I dislocated an ankle. )

Can you recommend any particularly good toning exercises? I'm really keen on not letting this ridiculous shin stop me from exercising.

Maybe try something like pilates or yoga, it's low impact but it can still be quite an intense workhout

Thank you cherrykitten! I hadn't really considered yoga or pilates since I'm usually more of a high-impact person but I know they can sometimes be even more of a workout because of the precision...

I'll definitely see about giving one a try!
