Hi,

Is it a really bad idea to try and lighten hair at home? I have dark brown hair with some golden highlights in at the moment and I am thinking I would quite like to be blonde. I have had my hair cut from long to funky short and I think it would look good

Am I able to go lighter a shade at a time or would I just end up with a disaster on my hands?

hey,

I am a dark brunette,and i have used bleaching kits specifically for dark hair to create highlights. These have turned out a lovely blonde, and not green or brassy.

However, as you are wanting an all over colour change, I would recommend booking in with a colour stylist at your local salon and she can tell you if that colour would suit.

I have been blonde and back to brown again since i posted this.

I really enjoyed being blonde but I think as the weather is getting colder I was wanted a nice warm chestnut again
