I was thinking about these after hearing the Kaiser Chief's "I Predict A Riot" on the radio the other day. A couple of years ago the song came on the radio and my mother asked me, "why is he singing 'I predict Tourettes'?" And ever since she said it that's how I've heard it...

I won't even get into the fact that I had to Google the lyrics to Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls" because I couldn't work out why he was singing "take a look to the sky just before you die, it's an ass-climbing whale". (Poor donkey.

)

So I was wondering which other song lyrics have you guys misheard? Did you have to look them up, or were you just happy to carry on with your own version?

I'm not sure about lyrics but in general chit chat/email, I have heard/seen the following typos:

- what toilet trees are you taking? = what toiletries are you taking?

- lettuce know = let us know!

The lettuce once was particularly amusing as it was on a rather formal work email!

- that sounds goo = that sounds good!

My misheards are a bt oldschool.

My young cousin used to sing "three weeks and take the trolly" which should be "this beat is technotronic"

My Dad used to sing "your giving me salad cream" to Johnny Hates Jazz sone "shattered dreams". He knew is was wrong, just couldn't help himself.

Red hot chilli peppers By the Way, to my neice the line "Ooh ahh, guess you never meant it" became "oh ah, question and a milkshake". She was about 4 though.

My very embarrassing misheard song lyrics were when I was young (many years ago) - anyone remember Dr Hook's "When you're in love with a beautiful woman"?

Well I used to think it was dead strange that he was singing "When you're in love with a beautiful womble"!

(Well I was young, and the Wombles featured a large part in my life at the time!)

great thread!

I used to call Madonna's Ray of Light the "Anna Friel" song, as I thought that was what she was singing when the lyric was "And I feel..".
