Has anyone been to or planning a themed wedding? Not just colours or food but like a big theme? What did you think? Fun to attend but would you do it yourself?

I love the idea of themed weddings, especially when they mean something to the couple getting married. I'm not sure I'd do it myself though... I did go to one recently though and it really was fun to attend - the bride and groom both looked stunning!

If you were tempted, what kind of themes would you go for?

My sister had a themed wedding a few years back and it was great fun!

She gave each table a different film theme (ours was Shakespeare in Love). There was also Austin Powers, Grease, Amadeus to name a few. It was held in a Scottish castle so bride and groom were Scottish themed. I have to say the photos looked amazing (she's a wedding photographer herself so it was all about colour and style lol!)

For my OH and I the costumes were dead easy - we hired 16th Century style get-up and my dress hid a multitude of sins. Loved it!

My friends themed wedding was 1950's. A slick time... the men looked fabulous in their suits!
They had a chap singing from the moment everyone arrived - just listen! http://jasonisaacs.co.uk/media/videos/ smoooooooth!

He wandered about the crowd before the speeches, then perfromed on stage after. An amazing ending to an amazing night.

The key thing about this reception was that everyone was made to feel special. The bride wanted that... after she'd had her moment in the church, she wanted to say thank you with a major glam event. Brilliant.
