Subject: No dinner diet. This works.
Thought I'd share this as its the only diet that has ever worked for me/that i have been able to stick to.

Its dead simple. nothing is forbidden and it works.

Since January of this yr (size 14-16 and very bumpy and wobbly with it at only 5'2) I have been following this 'diet'

I have whatever i want for breakfast (though i dont feel so hungry at that time so its usually just a banana, but i sometimes have toast, crumpets, croissants etc especially at weekends), whatever i want for lunch (baguettes, baked potatoes, sandwiches, big salads, soup and bread- actually whatever i fancy) and the odd snack (usually healthy but if a cake comes to the office i do have a bit!) then i get home from work (usually 6.30/7ish) and i have... nothing. First couple of weeks this is hard (i used to eat a big dinner- usually pasta, rice etc) but I realised its totally just habit and actually, at that time, when the day is over- im not really hungry and i dont actually need anything, especially if ive eaten well in the day (the only days im hungry at dinner time is if i dont have carbs in the day, then i falter at night and have something so i now make sure i eat substantially at lunch) After the first month i found i wasnt hungry at all at dinner time and having shaken off the habit of eating at that time I do NOT feel hungry in the evenings (this does take some adjusting but eventually - you dont!)

Its easy to stick to as even in the eve when you want something you can just think 'ill have it for lunch tomorrow' or 'ill have a cheese and ham croissant for breakfast' and that is enough to keep me going.

I havne't stopped going out in the evenings - i do this once or twice a week- and on those nights ill both eat and drink as on a normal night out, except ive replaced wine with g&T and ill try go for a lighter ooption when out for dinner (again, this is not a rigid rule- its just MOST of the time)

i dont weigh myself but 3-4 months later and im a small size twelve and constantly being complimented on how trim i am looking and healthy. I sleep better at night without a big meal digesting and im never hungry. I also havent had to change my lifestyle at all by abstaining from nights out.

Weekends i tend to have one proper meal (eg a roast) in the late afternoon and fruit, or healthy snacks (carrotts and hoummus is my fave) through the day if im peckish. Agian, if i want to go to a BBQ in the day or a beer garden and have a glass of wine and a plate of chips - i do it. Just not every weekend!

I hope this helps anyone else out there who like me doesnt want to have to count calories, be hungry while trying to work, give up any of the foods they love, or change the way they socialise.

Thanks for reading and hope it helps someone

ps takes about a month for people to start noticing!

This sounds interesting - I guess you are just cutting out most of your day's food? Do you not get hungry at all anymore? I'm on the Dukan at the moment and it's getting really really boring...... but i've lost 6lbs in 10 days.... hmm. Maybe I should just try your method? Thanks for sharing MonkeyMonks.

I wouldn't be able to do this, I just can't go to bed hungry! I get such bad hunger pangs that are almost like cramps and they make me wide awake.

This is very bad advice, I suggest that no one does this, Why?

Everyone knows, that you must not just drop a meal, the reason is we need to keep out blood sugar levels stable.

Doing this is not good.

hi

i have tried this diet back in 2004 and i lost 30lbs in 1.5 months....i was so thrilled... and i did maintain it till i had the baby back in 2009, and all went bonkers... i lost my discipline when it comes to food.. now she's three yrs and i have lost only half of the pregnancy weight...my biggest weakness is dinner. when i come home from work, its family time... and in order to teach that to our lil daughter we sit down to a meal, how am i supposed to NOT eat now when food is right in front of me... its so cruel.but i know for a fact if i somehow do it i can do it, its just the first few days of staring is the problem...

plus the work demands and being a working mum wears me off....

i would love to try it again... if i had a lil bit of motivation:(

I'm really not sure I could do this... I get low blood sugar if I don't eat, and really wouldn't like to pass out for the few extra pounds of weight loss. But if it works for you, go for it!

I think that for those of us with blood sugar issues, try to eat more protein during the daytime.
I don't tend to eat in the evenings, but if I do, it's a very light meal such as an omelette, soup or a big salad, or fruit.
It is an easy way to lose weight but it's also very important to eat a very balanced diet and get your veg and protein and fruit intake. Always have breakfast either as soon as you get up or about an hour later. This kick-starts your metabolism and gets your digestive system working, and stops your body going into panic mode.
It takes a wee while to get into the habit, but your body will get used to it.
Drink plenty of fluids and exercise too.
For working mums, I can see how family dinner time would be a problem actually. I would have a tough time resisting a meal then, too.

Maybe calorie counting, or having a much smaller meal than your folks is the answer. It's bloody tough this diet business isn't it?

Yeah I tried it for a few weeks once, and it worked pretty well on me as well.

It is really just a habit. I know an old couple, where are doctors, saying that skipping dinner make them feel better.
