Subject: any cat owners?need advice!
Hello I'm new on this forum just need some advice of someone in the know
So, I know my neighbours and their landlord, and saw them having a frank conversation on Thursday. On Friday, I saw removal vans and my neighbours leaving quickly looking stressed. They have a pet cat who I stroke now and then, and when I saw them going I thought she'd be gone when I got back.
When I got home (about 30 minutes)the cat was on my drive, and came straight up to me, this is weird as she is not needy. I kept seeing her and not my neighbours, the house was in darkness and there was no noise. So, after 4 and a half days, against my better judgement, I put a bowl of tuna outside, in case she had been abandoned, as was the theory by everyone around. She came over straight away and ate loads. This made me think they maybe had left her and she wasnt eating, right up until I went round the back and saw one of my neighbours had returned, and obviously the cat hadnt been abandoned.
However! I know its a bad thing to feed another persons animal and it really should NOT be done! But I honestly thought she was starving and thought I'd find her dead because I didnt want to feed her. Is there anything bad that will happen after this? i.e will she think my house is her food source and she wont eat at home? Or will I have upset her? Or am I worrying over nothing?

Hi Liz
Firstly, i think you have done a lovely thing, i would of done the same, i couldnt run the risk of that poor animal going hungry, i know cats can kill mice and stuff even still you were'nt prepared to let an animal suffer, that in itself is a noble thing, most folk would of just ingnored the whole thing. Now that you are 100% sure the cat has'nt been abandoned, i dont think you should worry yourself anymore, the next time the cat comes to you just make a big fuss over it, it will soon forget about food, becasue cats are no diferent to others they can get into bad habits, if you keep feeding it it will come to you for a treat even if it isnt hungry, but once you stop it will soon get the message.
And stop worrying you did a good thing not a bad thing,it only becomes bad if you continue knowing the owners are still there.(providing of course they are actually feeding the cat)!
The world needs more animal lovers like you!
